Alternative To Glasses And LASIK
A medical breakthrough could help thousands of people who don't qualify for LASIK eye surgery get rid of their glasses.
Late in December 2005, the FDA approved use of an implantable contact lens called the Staar Vision ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens).
In the surgery, the doctor makes a tiny incision on the eye. He then slides the lens into position behind the colored part of the eye in the pupil area. The incision will eventually seal itself. One eye is operated on at a time.
Dr. David Schneider of Cincinnati, Ohio performs the procedure.
